Easy Shrimp Gumbo

1 cup onions, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon canola oil
1/2 pound Polish Sausage, sliced and quartered
1-1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
1 can chicken broth
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (Frank's Red Hot)
3/4 pound cooked medium sized shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 cup quick cooking rice

1) In a large sauce pan, saute onions and garlic in oil for 2 minutes.
2) Stir in sausage and green onions, and cook for an additional 4 minutes.
5) Stir in tomatoes, broth, seasonings and the hot sauce....
