Napa Cabbage Stew with Sauerkraut

2 cups napa cabbage, chopped
1/2 cup sauerkraut
2 garlic cloves, sliced.
2 slices ginger
1 star anise
1/2 tablespoon Sichuan peppercorn
1 dry chili pepper (optional)
2 tablespoon olive oil
Salt
¼ cup water
Rinse the sauerkraut. Cut the chili pepper into small pieces, if using. Heat the olive oil in a wok. Add Sichuan peppercorn and chili pepper, sauté until fragrant. Add sauerkraut, garlic, ginger and star anise. Sauté for 1 minute. Add Napa cabbage, salt to taste and water, boil then simmer, covered, until soft, about 6 to 10 minutes. (Add more water if getting dry)
