Almost Tiramisu Double Espresso Chocolate Layer Cake

120 g (1 cup) good quality ( over 70% dark chocolate )
¼ cup freshly brewed espresso ( I used Etiopia Blend Forte - see notes )
80 g (1/3 cup) butter ( softened )
150 g ( ¾ cup + 1 tablespoon brown sugar )
75 g ( ¼ cup + 2 tablespoons white sugar )
2 eggs
¼ cup milk
¼ cup whipping/single cream
30 g (¼ cup) cocoa powder
200 g all-purpose flour ( 1 + 2/3 cups )
1 (¼ teaspoons) baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
Coffee Syrup:
3 tablespoons brewed espresso ( I used Etiopia Blend Forte )
40 g (¼ cup) brown sugar
1/4 cup water
Frosting:
250 g (1 cup) mascarpone
200 g (2 cups) icing sugar
