Amazing Banana Bread

This is the only banana bread recipe that I make, and have used for over 25 years. It is very moist and tastes wonderful, we love it when our bananas are too ripe to eat, so we can make this.

1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. Baking powder
3/4 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup sour milk
1 cup mashed banana
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Combine sugar and shortening. Mix in eggs, vanilla extract and bananas. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with sour milk, ending with the dry ingredients. Pour into 2 greased and floured loaf pans (8 1/2 X5) and bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pans and cool on racks.
