Soft and chewy doughnuts use yeast to rise and do not require doughnut pan to bake them.

½ cup + 2 Tbsp warm milk
1 tsp active dry yeast
1 Tbsp butter
? cup sugar
1 egg
2½ cup flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract -optional
1 tsp cinnamon powder -optional

If you add them to this recipe, do so at the beginning and simmer them low and slow to develop more flavor. Aromatics such as rosemary, cloves, parsley, and bay leaf would all be great additions to this dish. They would all enhance the flavor of the vegetable stock.
