Batido De Mamey (Mamey Milkshake)

424

This is one of my favorite childhood drinks. Mamey is a fruit mostly grown in the Caribbean. It's taste is rather unique the way i can best describe it is think of a mix of sweet potato, chocolate, pumpkin, honey and almond milk kind of flavor. It is really good and i advise all of you to try this.

2
1 cup milk
1 cup or 1 medium ripe Mamey (Do not peel. Cut it in half, remove and discard the seed and scoop out the pulp with a spoon)
2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
1 to 2 tbsp sugar or honey (taste as you add it-some fruits are sweeter than others)
A pinch of salt (about 1/16 tsp or less)
2/3 cup crushed ice
¼ tsp vanilla (optional)
In a blender, pour all the above base ingredients plus the Mamey. Puree until smooth. Add crushed ice and continue blending until slushy, and the shake has a thick and smooth consistency. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
