A layered Beef enchilada casserole made with ground beef, onions, garlic, homemade enchilada sauce, and cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese on every layer.

1 onion finely chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
2 cups enchilada sauce
1 can black beans drained and rinsed
1 can diced green chilies drained
12 flour or corn tortillas
1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar
