Best Marinade Ever

I was given this recipe by a friend not too long after my husband and I married in the late 80s. She used it for beef. We don't eat much beef, so I use it for chicken. I won a grill-off at our local radio station years ago with this recipe. Beef or chicken, or even fish, it's the best there is!

2/3 c. soy sauce
1/4 c. alcohol of your choice (I usually use whatever is on hand--vodka, rum, wine, sherry, doesnt seem to make much difference)
1-2 cloves garlic
1 TB sugar
1/8 tsp ground ginger (more if desired)
Mix all ingredients in a 1 gallon zip top plastic bag. Add meat, turning to coat. Let sit in refrigerator for 30 minutes. If I have the time, I will let this sit longer, turning the bag every so often. Discard marinade after removing meat.
