1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups bran cereal
1 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg warmed to room temperature
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 apple peeled and grated
1 carrot peeled and grated
1 cup chopped walnuts
