CHAI SPICED CINNAMON ROLLS

If you want to start your weekend off with some zen, definitely make these chai spiced cinnamon rolls!

FOR THE DOUGH
6 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
5 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
1 tsp lemon zest
3 1/2 cups unbleached bread flour
2 tsp instant (rapid rise/bread machine) yeast
1 1/4 cups whole milk, room temperature

FOR THE FILLING
6 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp cardamom
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cloves

FOR THE ICING
1 cup confectioners sugar
dash of vanilla
2 tbsp warm milk

8 small taro roots
water
salt
1 cup yogurt, mixed with enough water to submerge roots (add salt)

  1. Wash the taro roots well.
  2. Slightly cut a slit into each root, but not big enough to split the root into two pieces. This will allow the water and marinade to go into the taro root
