Coffee and Chili Rubbed Smoked Tri Tip
An assertive dry rub featuring coffee and chili is an excellent partner with a tender steak like tri tip. By slow smoking the steak for about 45 minutes you can take this beauty from "great" to "AMAZING".
2.5 pounds tri tip
Coffee and Chili Dry Rub:
3 tablespoons coffee beans
1 tablespoon turbinado sugar
1 tablespoon kosher salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
Combine the dry rub ingredients in a spice mixer and pulse until smooth.
Liberally apply the dry rub to all sides of the steak.
Smoke teh steak with indirect high heat for about 45 minutes...
