1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar ( divided )
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup peeled ( cored, and finely diced apple )
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
