Easy English sweet scones
63
A classic British scone recipe
Serves 8 to 12:
60g butter
340g self raising flour
40g sugar
225ml milk
1 teaspoon salt
60g butter
340g self raising flour
40g sugar
225ml milk
1 teaspoon salt
1. Mix the flour and salt together.
2. Rub in the butter, then add the sugar.
3. Add the milk, then turn onto a floured board to knead into a dough.
4. Roll out to your desired thickness, and begin the scone-shape-cutting!
5. Place the scones on a greased baking sheet on a baking tray.
6. Brush the tops of the scones with a little milk.
7. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 220C until golden and well-risen.
OPTIONAL: I myself don't like dried fruit/sultanas etc. but add them to the mixture after you add the 225ml of milk, if you wish.
