My homemade eggnog is thick and creamy and completely alcohol free for those of us who are teetotal this festive period!

½ cup caster sugar
Pinch of salt
3 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1tbsp vanilla extract
Grated fresh nutmeg, to serve
