Coffee Cake Topping
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
3/8 cup brown sugar ( or 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons )
2 tablespoons white sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/8 teaspoons salt
Scones
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup cold butter ( cubed )
3 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk ( or thick sour milk )
2 teaspoons almond extract
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons flour ( set aside )
