Brown chana:
1 cup Brown chana ( soaked not boiled )
1/4 cup Shallots ( peeled and halved )
to taste Salt
to taste Water enough to cover chana
1 tsp Dhania powder
1 tsp Red chili powder
1/2 tsp pepper powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
1.2 tsp Turmeric powder
For paste:
1 tbsp Oil
1/4 cup Shallots ( whole )
1 piece ginger, roughly chopped ( 1 inch )
4-5 cloves garlic
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
1/2 cup Grated Coconut
1 tbsp Coriander seeds
For tempering: :
1 tsp Mustard seeds
2 Dry red chili
to taste Curry leaves

Combine chana with red chili powder, turmeric, pepper powder, coriander seed powder, salt, and water.
Cook in a pressure cooker for 4 to 6 whistles till soft.
