For the dough:
2 cups bread flour
4 tsp sugar
1 egg ( separated )
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 package active dry yeast ( red star )
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup milk
For the glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
3 to 4 tsp water
1/2 tsp vanilla
Have water and milk at 110°-115°F and all other ingredients at room temperature. Measure the first 4 ingredients into a bowl. Mix with pastry blender or fork. Dissolve yeast in the water. Let stand...
