1/4 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 cups milk ( divided )
3/4 cup pure maple syrup
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons butter ( cut into cubes )
1/2 teaspoon maple extract
12 oz. container Cool Whip
1 fully baked pie crust ( cooled )
1/2 cup slivered almonds ( if desired )
