Mocha Cupcakes with Espresso Buttercream

Mocha cupcakes have the perfect chocolate flavor and texture with a buttercream that has the right amount of coffee flavor.

1/2 cup brewed coffee, room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoons espresso powder
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg, room temperature
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons
vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons
espresso powder
