Mom's Almond Cherry Cookies

This almond cookie recipe has been a Christmas tradition in my family ever since I can remember. My mom made these every year at Christmas time and I have to say they are to this day one of my favorite cookies ever! She handed down her recipe to me on a 3x5 card that I still have to this day. It has yellowed and the writing has faded but I consider it a treasure! Christmas truly is a time where you can bring loved ones back into your memories as you enjoy the special treats that you grew up

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tarter
