Fragrant and tasty Nasi Biryani flavored with spices and rose or kewra water. This aromatic rice is the base for all your meat biryanis.

3 tbsp vegetable oil
3 large Shallots (peeled and thinly sliced)
3 tbsp butter
1 stick cinnamon stick
2 Star Anise
3 cardamom pods
6 Cloves
450 g Basmati rice
80 g Golden Raisins
600 ml Water
to taste salt
1/4 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp rose essence or kewra water
1/2 cup Cashew nuts
