Radga Pattice: A Heart-Healthy Soup | Pea Soup

An Indian spiced pea soup served with vegetable patties. It is hearty, healthy, and super delicious on a cold or rainy day.

RAGDO -PEA SOUP:
1 cup dried, whole green peas
4 cup water (use less for thicker soup)
3 tbsp apple butter
1 tbsp ginger
1 tbsp garlic
2 tbsp suger
1 tsp jeera (cumin) powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp fresh grated turmeric (or powder)
red chili powder
salt
oil
PATTICE -VEGETABLE PATTIES:
4 cup steamed and mashed vegetables of choice (I prefer potatoes)
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped finely (optional)
garlic (more or less)
ginger (more or less)
3 sprigs green onions, chopped finely (optional)
green chillies, chopped or blended
salt
SWEET CHUTNEY:
3 tbsp apple butter
1 tsp jeera (cumin) powder
3 tbsp water
red chili powder
GREEN CHILI PEPPER CHUTNEY -spicy:
4 tbsp green chili pepper of choice
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
water
salt
GARNISHMENTS:
sev (fried chick-pea flower snack)
chopped onion
chopped tomato
chopped cilantro
chopped chili peppers

RAGDO (PEA SOUP)

  1. Soak the green peas for 4-6 hours in cold water. SIDE NOTE: since this is a large bean, it tends to take a while to cook naturally.
