Rye & Apple Porridge

A porridge which can be served hot or cold, full of whole grains, apples, and warm spices.

1/2 cup rye flakes
1/2 cup oats
1 apple ( chopped, any variety )
1 tsp. apple pie spice
2 cups water
milk ( desired amount )
1 tbs honey ( optional )

Boil 2 cups of water. Stir in rye and oats. Add apples, lower heat, and simmer until the grains are cooked through. The apples should stay firm and crisp. Sprinkle generously with apple pie spice, and add ...
