Sausage and Potato Breakfast Casserole

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1½ pounds (about 5 medium) Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled & diced into small cubes
1 (4 ounce) hot Italian sausage link
1¾ cup (14 ounce can) beef broth - I prefer to use water and beef base to get my broth
2 tablespoons red cooking wine
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
8 ounces (about 2 cups) shredded Sharp Cheddar cheese, divided
20 basil leaves, rough chop (or 1 tablespoon dried)
1 roasted red bell pepper, diced
2 green onions, green parts chopped (white parts discarded)
4 eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter until melted and sizzling.
Add diced potatoes to skillet, creating one flat layer over bottom of entire skillet.
