Strawberry Shortcake Cake is a gorgeous vanilla cake filled with whipped vanilla frosting and fresh strawberries. Lovely strawberry shortcake layers make up this easy & elegant strawberry cake.

2 6 or 8 in round white cakes (from box or scratch) made and cooled
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 oz whipped topping, thawed
1 lb strawberries, sliced
strawberry syrup, optional

Slice each round cake in half to create 4 layers. Set the cake layers aside.
