Easy Easter Sugar Cookies

We have come up with 3 easy ways to decorate a sugar cookie for Easter. My kids love helping me in the kitchen, so I wanted to make some simple sugar cookies that they could help me with and this is what we came up with! The possibilities really are endless!

½ cup butter, softened
½ cup shortening
¼ cup sour cream
2 eggs
1¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
¼ cup milk
4 cups flour
Frosting:
½ cup butter, softened
¼ cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar (more or less depending on how thick/runny you like it)
Food coloring, optional
Other toppings for cookies:
large marshmallows
pink sugar crystals or sparkles
jellybeans
chocolate chips
shredded coconut
Orange AirHead candy
Marshmallow Chick
Chocolate eggs
