These scones are amazing! Whether you're looking for something to make for a Sunday brunch, after school snack or to take to your neighbors, look no further. This right here is your golden ticket. It's very easy to throw together, looks beautiful and so full of yum that you'll definitely be coming back for more! And on a cold winter day, it goes perfectly with a big cup of Hot Chocolate or Creamy Caramel Cider!
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons shortening, chilled
2 apples - peeled, cored, and chopped
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon milk
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
Topping:
1 tablespoon milk
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 TBS sugar
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1/3 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons shortening, chilled
