For the bread:
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans, divided
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups finely chopped, peeled apples (about 3/4 lb.)

For the caramel topping:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
