Sweet vanillia cupcakes with a browned butter frosting topped off with brown sugar and pecans

3/4 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
3 large eggs, separated
2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

Browned Butter Frosting:
1/4 cup butter
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
3 1/2-4 cups powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla bean paste
