Chocolate Pie with Candied Pecans

A classic chocolate pie with homemade whip cream and candied pecans.

1 cup pecans, halved
1½ tbs. flour
3 tbs. brown sugar
2 tbs. butter, melted
3 egg whites
2 sticks salted butter, room temperature
1½ tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup sugar, plus ¼ cup
4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1 pre-made graham cracker crust
1½ cup heavy whipped cream

8 small taro roots
water
salt
1 cup yogurt, mixed with enough water to submerge roots (add salt)

  1. Wash the taro roots well.
  2. Slightly cut a slit into each root, but not big enough to split the root into two pieces. This will allow the water and marinade to go into the taro root
