Cornbread Sloppy Joe Casserole Recipe

One of our favorite family dinners are sloppy joes, but one can only eat so many of those! So, I decided to add a little variety to our lives and take our favorite sloppy joe recipe and combine it with our tamale pie. The end results were awesome! My picky eaters gobbled it up and there was no whining or tears all night!

1 pound ground beef
1 medium red onion, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon BBQ seasoning (I used McCormick brand)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 (14 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (8.5 oz) box Jiffy corn muffin mix
1/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 egg
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
