French Toast with Cinnamon Apples and Cinnamon Syrup

A great brunch recipe, this easy French toast with cinnamon apples and cinnamon syrup is fantastic! A perfect weekend meal!

For the cinnamon syrup:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup water
For the cinnamon apples:
3-4 apples, peeled and chopped into bite size pieces
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1 tablespoon butter
For the French toast:
6 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 thick slices challah or French bread (best if it’s a couple of days old)
