Homemade New York Style Bagel

A delicious homemade bagel that can be left plain or can have any topping you desire added to it.

1 1/4 cups warm water, may need more or less
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 1/2 cups bread flour, plus extra for kneading
1 1/2 teaspoon salt

Optional Toppings
coarse salt, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, fresh minced garlic
