These Jamaican Beef Patties make a perfect on-the-go snack. The spicy and flavorful filling is encased in flaky golden pastry
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter , cubed
3 tablespoons ice cold water
For the filling:
1 medium onion , finely chopped
2 scallions , finely chopped
1 Scotch bonnet or jalapeƱo pepper , seeds removed, chopped
1/2 lb (225g) ground beef
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup unseasoned dry bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon curry powder
salt and pepper , to taste
