This Kaiserschmarrn recipe is perfect for your Oktoberfest party but it also makes a great dessert for other special occasions! A fluffy pancake made with rum-soaked raisins is torn into bite-sized pieces, caramelized, and served hot sprinkled with Confectioners’ sugar.

For the rum-soaked raisins:
1/3 cup (50 g) raisins
3 tbsp Rum
For the pancake:
3 large eggs, divided
3 tbsp (40g) butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp (30g) sugar
1 pinch of salt
1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (240ml) milk
To caramelize:
2 tbsp butter
2 tsp sugar
To serve:
1-2 tbsp Confectioners\' sugar
1 cup applesauce

8 small taro roots
water
salt
1 cup yogurt, mixed with enough water to submerge roots (add salt)

  1. Wash the taro roots well.
  2. Slightly cut a slit into each root, but not big enough to split the root into two pieces. This will allow the water and marinade to go into the taro root
