NY style lemon and poppy seed bagels

1 envelope of active dry yeast {I used Red Star Platinum}
1/4 cup of sugar
3 1/2 cups of AP flour {I use King Arthur}
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups of very warm water {110 - 120 }
juice and zest of one lemon
poppy seeds
combine all of the dry ingredients add the water, juice, and zest stir to combine knead the dough until you have a soft, smooth ball cover and let rise until doubled {my dough took 1 1/2 hours} punch down...

Marinated Taro Root

A marinated snack that can be used to replace late night bad habit cravings!

8 small taro roots
water
salt
1 cup yogurt, mixed with enough water to submerge roots (add salt)

  1. Wash the taro roots well.
  2. Slightly cut a slit into each root, but not big enough to split the root into two pieces. This will allow the water and marinade to go into the taro root
