The maple syrup with a hint of bourbon gives the toast extra warmth to offset the sweetness from the syrup and batter.

½ cup milk
1 tbsp bourbon
½ cup flour
? tsp ground cinnamon
? tsp vanilla extract
pinch of nutmeg
1 tsp butter
6- 1 inch slices of french bread

In a pie dish, combine eggs, milk, bourbon, flour, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg. Whisk until thoroughly combined.
