Marshmallow Popcorn Balls with Brown Butter

Popcorn balls are one of those treats that I never had as a child. I don’t know why… maybe they weren’t very popular with Canadian children back in the late 1980?s? I think we ate a lot of Rice Krispie Squares instead (which I love). So I decided to make my own popcorn ball recipe for this blog. I briefly considered adding some orange food colouring to these to make them more Halloween-ish, but I don’t have any kids and really didn’t feel like consuming food colouring for the heck of it.

1/2 cup of popcorn kernels
1/8 tsp sea salt (or to taste)
1/4 cup salted butter
40 large marshmallows

Pop your popcorn kernels in the microwave or on the stovetop.
Allow the popcorn to cool slightly, then remove all unpopped kernels. This is really important!
