Poached pears are one of the easiest, most versatile, seasonal treats that you can prepare, and their sweet, spiced flavors are the perfect complement to the salty bacon, rich turkey, and creamy Gruyere cheese on this toasted sandwich. For the Poached Pears:
2 ½ cups apple juice or apple
1 ½ cups water
3 whole cloves
1 stick cinnamon
6 ripe Bosc USA Pears, peeled and cored
For the Panini:
2 slices crusty bread
3 ounces oven-roasted turkey (can substitute chicken)
2 slices bacon, cooked
½ of Poached Bosc Pear, sliced
2-3 slices Gruyere (or Swiss) cheese
1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise
