225
This recipe makes two loaves of fresh, French bread in just one hour.
24
2 ½ c. warm water (about 105 F)
5 tsp. active dry yeast
2 T. granulated sugar
1 tsp. kosher salt
3 T. olive oil
5 ½ -6 c. bread flour
5 tsp. active dry yeast
2 T. granulated sugar
1 tsp. kosher salt
3 T. olive oil
5 ½ -6 c. bread flour
1. In a large bowl, stir together water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes or until foamy.
2. Stir in salt, oil, and enough flour to form a soft, sticky dough.
3. Cover your bowl with a warm, damp (not wet) towel, and let the dough sit for about 15 minutes.
4. Next, with lightly floured hands, divide the dough into two long loaves, tucking the ends under each loaf.
5. Place both loaves side by side, leaving a little space between them, on a greased cookie sheet.
6. Take a knife and slash the tops of each loaf diagonally.
7. Cover with greased plastic wrap, and allow the loaves to sit while you preheat your oven to 375.
8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
