Apple Filling
6 c. thinly sliced baking apples (cored and peeled)
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 T. lemon juice
2 T. all-purpose flour
Topping
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
3 T. cold butter, in small cubes
2/3 c. low-fat buttermilk
1 T. raw sugar

Topping
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

3 T. cold butter, in small cubes
2/3 c. low-fat buttermilk
1 T. raw sugar
1. Preheat oven to 400 F. Lightly grease a 1 ½ quart baking dish; set aside.
2. For the apples, stir together apples, sugar, lemon juice, and flour in a medium bowl. Set aside while you prepare the topping.
