Sumi Salad

A kind of slaw with an Asian twist.

2 tablespoons oil
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1 pkg. (2oz.) sliced almonds
8 - 10 green onions onions, finely sliced
2 (3oz.) pkg. ramen noodles, broken and uncooked (do not use the flavor packet)
1 head cabbage, finely sliced
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup oil
6 tablespoons rice vinegar
Heat the 2 tablespoons of oil in a skillet and toast the almonds and sesame seeds until lightly browned. Combine seeds and almonds with the onions, noodles and cabbage. Combine the remaining ingredients to make the dressing, mixing well. Pour dressing over the salad and toss well. Cover and chill salad for several hours before serving to blend flavors.
