Forget about buying potato chips at the grocery store when you can make a delicious variation of chips in the comforts of your home. You just need simple tools to make crispy thin chips for your next snack!

You may use different flavors on these chips, from classic cheese powder to sumac to just salt. You can also dip the vegetable crisp into different sauces like this Cucumber Yogurt Dip.

No deep-fry thermometer to measure how hot is the oil? No need to worry! You can dip the handle end of a wooden spoon in the oil. If it bubbles fairly steadily, then it's ready. You may also use the popcorn method — which is placing a kernel of popcorn in the oil. It will pop when the oil reaches 350 to 360 degrees Fahrenheit. Food dropped in cool oil will absorb the fat and take longer to cook. Make sure you heat the oil slowly.

Watermelon has extremely high water content. It's the perfect fruit to eat on a hot day. But, to combat the watery smoothie problem, it is best to freeze the watermelon overnight. When choosing your watermelon, look for a seedless variety to make your life easier. If you can't find seedless watermelon, take the time to pick out the seeds before you freeze it.Peel and cut the melon into small chunks. You can pickle the watermelon rind to avoid waste. Pickled watermelon rind is a great afternoon snack.

Serve smoothies in chilled glasses. For garnish, place a few wedges of watermelon aside when cutting your watermelon. A sprig of fresh mint will add a pretty pop of green once you are ready to serve.

Blood Orange Tart Recipe

Looking for a blood orange tart recipe? Look no further as this is the perfect dessert recipe to end an awesome family lunch or dinner. A zesty and sweet-tart recipe that compliments a summer grill party.

You can use a few different kinds of fats for the pie crust— such as butter, lard, or shortening. But, the taste of the butter is much better than any other type of fat. To make a perfect and flaky crust, make sure that your butter is cold and your water is ice water.

As for the Swiss meringue, do not separate the egg whites directly into your mixing bowl. You need to make sure that you don't get even the slightest amount of yolk on your egg whites. Yolks and water are the most common enemy of a great Swiss meringue. It will prevent aeration and will ruin the whole batch of whites.

Filling:
5 large egg yolks
6 tablespoons cornstarch
1 1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup blood orange juice

Meringue:
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/3 cup cold water
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
