Alice's Sweet & Spicy Chili


A sweet & spicy chili that is a snap to mix and let cook in your crock-pot!

2 (4 oz. each) packages Carroll Shelby's Chili Mix Kits
2 lbs. lean ground chuck
1/4 cup butter
1 large sweet yellow onion, diced
2 cubes beef bouillon
1 cup hot water
4 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 cans (15.5 oz. each) Mexican style chili beans, with juice
1 can (15.5 oz.) red kidney beans, drained
3 cans (15 oz) tomato sauce (with onions, green pepper & celery)
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. "Nature's" seasoning salt
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, saute large, diced onion in 1/4 cup butter. Add ground chuck & seasoning salt and continue cooking til meat is done through, In a small bowl, mix 1 cup hot water with 2 beef bouillon cubes until dissolved. In your large crock-pot, put in cooked beef mixture, beef bouillon water, both kinds of beans, brown sugar, tomato sauce, garlic powder, & chili powder. Now open the two Carroll Shelby's Chili Mix Kits. There are several packets inside each box. Mix in Both of the large "chili spices" packets. Then put in only one of the "cayenne pepper" packets. (You can add the second if you like it Hot!) I discard the salt packets and the "Masa flour" packets. (I know, it seems like a waste, but there is just no beating the flavor of this brand of chili mix!!) Mix all ingredients together well. Turn your crock-pot on low for at least 6 hours. Top with your favorite shredded cheese blend and sour cream if desired!
