For the cake
1 cup (230g) butter, softened
1 1/2 (300g) cups white sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 tsp vanilla extract or paste
2 2/3 cups (340g) flour (spooned & measured carefully)*
1/3 cup cornflour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup buttermilk, room temp
For the Lemon Glaze
2 cups icing sugar
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
For the Topping
1 cup milk
3 Tbsp plain flour
230g butter, at room temp
1 cup caster sugar
Pinch of salt
Plus ½ tsp almond extract
½ tsp vanilla bean paste
2 tsp lemon zest (split in half)
¼ cup sliced natural almonds.
