Great pastry for the holidays.....or any time of year!

3/4 c. sugar
1 c. margarine
2 pkgs. yeast
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
2 c. warm milk
6 c. flour, sifted
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. rolled oats
2 tsp. almond extrace
Place margarine and 3/4 c.sugar in 4 quart bowl; pour heated milk over margarine. When margarine is melted, add eggs and yeast to milk mixture. Add salt and sifted flour and beat together with spoon, no kneading. Cover with cloth; let rise for 1 1/2 hours in warm place. Separate dough into 6 equal pieces. Mix filling of butter, sugar, oats, and almond extract. Roll out dough into an 8x10 inc. rectangle; spread small amount of filling in center of dough. On each side of rectangle make cuts 2 inches apart and 2 inches long; lace strips by alternately crossing them over. Tuck ends underneath. Let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 374 for 15 to 20 minutes. Makes 6 pastries.
