These are crunchy and soft and chewy all at the same time. Quick to put together and the nutmeg gives it an extra touch.

1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup milk

Coating
1/2 cup sugar
6 TB. melted butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
Cream sugar, shortening and egg. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk and creamed mixture; beating well after each addition. Fill prepared muffin tins 2/3 full. Bake on 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Remove from muffin tin and. Roll entire muffin in melted butter and cinnamon/sugar mix until all sides are coated. Serve warm.
