Let me just warn you now that once you try this syrup you will never be able to go back to regular maple syrup. It is absolutely YUMMY!! It is great on Waffles, Pancakes, French Toast, German Pancakes and the list goes on. It is even a great topping for ice cream! If you are lucky enough to have leftovers at your house you can keep it in the fridge. Just warm it up before serving.

1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup butter (or margarine if that’s all you have on hand)
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Combine sugar, buttermilk, butter, corn syrup and baking soda in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Boil for 7 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla extract.
