Cheesy M&M Cookies

26

These cookies use fat free cream cheese, instead of just butter or margarine, making them extra moist and with slightly lower fat and caloric content! They stay soft and fresh for days, and are seriously the best cookies you will ever try. You can easily substitute the M&Ms for chocolate chips, but I like to buy whatever seasonal M&Ms are currently available to make them festive.

32
4 ounces fat free cream cheese, room temperature
4 ounces butter or margarine, room temperature
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg (large)
1 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup M&Ms
Heat oven to 350°. In a small bowl, mix together your flour, baking soda, and salt. Put to the side. In a mixing bowl, beat together your cream cheese, butter, and sugars with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth. Slowly beat in the flour, baking powder, and salt mixture. Once finished, fold in your M&Ms. Drop by tablespoonful onto prepared a nonstick baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between cookies. The cookies spread very little while baking, so not much space will be needed in between. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes, or until the cookies are set and lightly browned around the edges. Makes about 32 cookies.
