Cherry Almond Scones

Summer is in full swing. Fresh berries are cropping up everywhere: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and cherries are plentiful. Here is an amazing scone recipe to make. Service it up warm with a delish cup of coffee while you enjoy your morning read!

1 3/4 cups all purpose flour, plus more for work surface
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, plus more for sprinkling
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter, cut into 1/2" pieces, chilled
1/2 cup or more fresh cherries cut in half and pitted *use equal amounts for fresh blueberries or raspberries or other fresh seasonal fruit.
1 teaspoon Almond extract
1 large egg
5 tablespoons heavy cream, plus more for brushing scones

1 cup powdered sugar
1-5 tablespoons milk
